MANO CHE NUTRE LA MORTE, LA
(The Hand That Feeds Death.)
Aka: ÖLÜMÜN NEFESI (Breath of Death)
Deep within the walls of a gothic villa, Professor Marshal continues
his skin graft experiments on the bodies of beautiful young women.
Each experiment ends the same way; in death. But he must continue.
He must seek a cure for his beloved wife. Ten year have passed since
the fire killed her father and burned her so badly that she must
hide her horrible disfigured face. As more beautiful women are needed
the brute servant is sent out to abduct them. As fate would have
it a carriage transporting a newlywed couple overturns in front
of the villa. The driver is killed but the husband and wife are
just shaken. Professor Marshal helps the two and is stunned by the
beauty of the young bride. She has a perfect face, just the face
he needs…
Klaus Kinski’s name on a theater marquee guaranteed a profit
in the early 70’s. Low budget film producers knew this but
were forced to pay him a large salary for his appearance. Some producers
used him in a small part to exploit his name while others were more
creative. In 1973 Kinski traveled to Turkey to shoot one film for
Italian director Sergio Garrone. Unbeknownst to Mr. Kinski, two
films were being shot at the same time with essentially the same
cast at the same gothic villa. AMANTI
DEL MOSTRO a more artistic and sympathetic film told a
Jekyll and Hyde story while this film; MANO CHE NUTRE LA MORTE is
a more graphic and sensational film retelling a story first seen
in the French film Les Yeux Sans Visage (Eyes Without a Face - 1959)
The two horror films were released a year apart then disappeared.
Kinski in his memoirs barley mentions the film(s) recalling only
sex with a fat women in a dirty whorehouse. Also starring the beautiful
Katia Christine, Carmen Silva and Erol Tas. (1973 - Italy/Turkey)
