What is DVD-R and can my DVD player play it?

As we all know, DVD stands for Digital Video Disc so what is this DVD-R? DVD-R stands for DVD Recordable Disc; A single layer DVD-R can store up to 2 hours of very high quality Digital Video, including audio tracks in formats like stereo, Dolby Digital or DTS, subtitles and still pictures that can be played by standalone DVD Players.

Nearly all DVD players produced in the past year or two are capable of playing the DVD-R format and many older players can too. To see if your player is compatable, check the link at the bottom of this page.

The films avliable on DVD-R are sourced from rare out-of-print masters, converted to NTSC and if need be, translated to English and subtlted. These titles are not aviliable on any other digital format at this time and are being made availble to collectors who seek a higher quality and longer lasting alternitave to VHS tape.

All of the titles listed include full color packaging, lables and a rudementary menu on the DVD.
