AMANDO DE OSSORIO - R.I.P.
Sad news has just come in from Spain that two weeks ago Spanish horror director Amando de Ossorio passed away at the age of 86. Several major newspapers in Spain reported his death. It had been rumored that De Ossorio was planning a return to filmmaking, but could not get it going because of a lack of financial interest, combined with his failing health. He is best remembered to readers of this newsletter for his "Blind Dead" series of films that told of the Knights Templar rising from their graves to seek the blood of the living. Other genre films include MALENKA THE VAMPIRE (1969), WHEN THE SCREAMING STOPS (1973), THE NIGHT OF THE SORCERERS (1974), and DEMON WITCH CHILD (1975). SEA SERPENT (1984), was his last film.
