To help you avoid the massive
crush of people and enjoy the weekend I've
put together some tips.
1)Beat the crowds:
Saturday afternoon has the most
going on and is the busiest time to shop
the dealers rooms. If you are going
to shop the best times are: Friday
night when the show opens at around
5:30 or early Saturday morning when
the show opens. On Saturday you
can also buy an "pre-show" pass for a
slight surcharge that lets you into
the show about an hour before it
officially opens. This pass is a
double edged sword - yes, you get in
before the crowds, but you also
get in before many of the dealers open for
business. With that said it is still
worth it if you can't do the Friday
night route.
2)Parking:
Again, this can be a big nightmare.
Get there early and park in the multi
leveled garage. It's a walk to the
show, but it's better then having your
car blocked in.
3)Eating:
If you don't want to leave the hotel
to eat, your pretty much
screwed. Not that the Sheridan Hotel
doesn't have a restaurant and
a bar, but the food is not great
and the prices are outrageous. Bring
your own food, water, and snacks.
If you have transportation you're
in luck. Only a few miles west of
the Hotel on RT.3 is the Tick Tock
Diner. It's the best and biggest
place to eat around and you'll be in
the company of many Chiller show
veterans.
4)Shopping:
The hotel has an ATM machine but...
it's usually empty within the
first few hours of the show. Soooo,
bring enough cash. Many dealers
now take credit cards, but nothing
gets you a better deal than cash.
5)The Party:
If this will be your first time
to a Chiller show, make sure you are
there for the Saturday night party/costume
contest. As the night
gets later and the music gets louder
the people get stranger. It's
the only place to see insane people
in some incredible costumes
drunk off their ass. Which brings
me to my next tip....
6)Bring a Camera:
See above. I wouldn't bring anything
too expensive or too large. A
disposable is perfect. Photo opportunities
happen quick at Chiller,
so make it a instant point and shoot.
7)Lodging:
If you don't have a room booked
already at the Sheridan, well, you're out
of luck. Hopefully you've got wheels
and can get to one of the many other
hotels in the area. Have the front
desk of the hotel make a few calls for
you to book you a room. Or book
