BWhile riding the bus home from school, a group of high school students, are secretly gassed and kidnaped. When they wake they discover they have been brought to a deserted island where they must fight to the death in the government's new discipline plan - the "Battle Royal". Each of the 42 students are given food, a map, and various weapons. Within 24 hours they must kill or be killed, until there is only one survivor left. That survivor will be the only one who will be allowed to return home. As the brutal game begins, terror and panic challenge the students' fragile trust in one another. Some suspect everyone, blindly striking down those who cross their paths. Others try to form alliances, dreaming of a peaceful solution with multiple survivors. But in the end, there may only be one person left to tell the tale of what happened on the island.
